Welcome
The Tavern on the Square has been a restaurant since 1931. Although ownership has changed hands several times, it has always been family owned and operated. When we saw the ‘permanently closed sign’ hanging on its door, we felt the call to action. We purchased the landmark in 2022 and spent two years in total restoration of the 1849 Antebellum home-turned-restaurant. Since opening our doors in 2024, we’ve welcomed over 80,000 guests back to this new version of The Tavern. Farmers are our neighbors so, when sourcing, we seek local products, first and work closely with local growers. We also use antibiotic and hormone-free proteins. Quality is our commitment, care is what drives us. We look forward to seeing you here in the country!

AT THE HISTORIC TAVERN
Located in the heart of Western Pennsylvania’s Amish Country, The Tavern on the Square has been an icon since it first opened in 1931. The restaurant closed in 2020 and sat empty for nearly two years. New owners purchased the abandoned building in 2021 and have undertaken a major restoration. The focus is on all things local, tapping into the abundant talent that surrounds this quaint country town. Sign up for the journal to see what’s happening at The Tavern!
