The Tavern on the Square has been a local landmark since 1931. Located one hour north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the heart of true Amish Country, The Tavern was thoughtfully restored and reopened in 2024. Rooted in tradition and built for gathering, we’re proud to carry its story forward.

Every old town has its stories. Some are history. Some are legend. And some are best told after dark.

Join historical storyteller Bill May for an entertaining evening of local lore, haunted tales, and mysterious happenings from Western Pennsylvania’s past. Drawing from regional history and folklore, Bill brings to life the characters, places, and ghost stories that have lingered for generations.

Enjoy dinner at The Tavern on the Square during the presentation. Our full à la carte menu will be available, along with a special three-course prix fixe dinner featuring our popular Meatloaf Night entrée. Guests can also enjoy our complete selection of fall craft cocktails, beer, and wine.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a believer in the unexplained, or simply looking for a memorable autumn evening, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

Due to limited seating and advanced event planning, all tickets are final and non-refundable. Tickets may be transferred to another guest if you are unable to attend. Please contact events@thetavernonthesquare.com if you wish to transfer your reservation.

Doors open at 5:00pm. Please check-in with the host. Seating is assigned.

Located in the heart of Western Pennsylvania’s Amish Country, The Tavern on the Square has been an icon since it first opened in 1931. The restaurant closed in 2020 and sat empty for nearly two years. New owners purchased the abandoned building in 2021 and have undertaken a major restoration.
